I love music. It can change my world in just a few bars into a song. When it comes to worship music, it takes me beyond the here and now. Worship music actually transports me straight up to God, when I’ve gotten preoccupied with life on earth.
For my Worship Smoothie here at FaithBarista, I picked a special song that God has used to encourage me when I was figuring out whether to start this blog or not.
I had been excited about the idea, but thought maybe I didn’t have anything to say that was worth reading about?
It was through this singer-songwriter Curtis Stephan’s interpretation of a worship song, My Reward, that reminded me of what really matters in the end.
Not how many people have read me. Not who’s who list that I’m on. Not how many posts I’ve written or comments I’ve received.
Listening to this song reminded me when I finally see Jesus at the end of this journey on earth, my heart will finally be home.
My struggles to be somebody for God, my strivings to make a difference, would finally come to an end. Listening to this song made things crystal clear to me.
Jesus. You are my reward.
This song somehow makes me want to write. With no strings attached. Just because it makes me happy. Through the simple, beautiful guitar acoustics, I’m reminded that simply loving Jesus, treasuring Him, and learning to walk with Jesus is enough to satisfy all my desires.
Thank you God for this song.
How has God used this worship song, My Reward, in your life?
Is there another worship song that is encouraging to you this week?
Sample an MP3 clip of Curtis Stephan’s rendition of My Reward here (scroll all the way to the bottom).
Here are the lyrics, written by the worship leader, songwriter Paul Baloche.
My Reward
I want to hear You say the words to me “well done"
I want to hear You say “good and faithful servant"
I want to hear You say “I've prepared a place for you"
Let all the treasures of this world fade away
Jesus, You are my reward
To hear Your voice on that day is all I'm living for
Jesus, You are my reward
To see Your face on that day is all I'm living for
In the twinkling of an eye, we'll all be changed
We'll meet you in the sky
We will meet You face to face
