It feels so good to wake up on a Friday. I’ll often do a mental double check to make sure I didn’t just think that it was Friday.
Lemme see, what did I do yesterday?.. Yep, I Hubby had to haul the empty garbage cans back into garage.. Which means it was Garbage Day Thursday.. Yeah, it IS Friday!
Thank God. I mean, really. T-h-a-n-k y-o-u, God.
Depending on what kind of week I’ve had, a Thank You can mean different things.
Here is My Menu of Weekend Thank you’s, that I check off on Fridays:
- The Collegiate’s Thank You: Thank you, God, for all the wonderful opportunities you’ve placed in my life this week. Everything is so new and exciting. I can conquer the world because the future looks shiny and bright. I can’t wait to recharge and go for it another week!
- The Soldier’s Thank You: Thank you for getting me through the week in one piece. Thank you for protecting me from getting smattered into a thousand pieces from a rough work week. I know I could have been blown to bits because of stress, problems or exhaustion that were laid out for me by the enemy. But, you got me through it. By the way, can you get me the medic?
- The Mountaineer’s Thank You: Thank you for a wonderful week, God! It was just awesome. And everything went so well. You answered all my prayers this week and I don’t know how I could’ve ever doubted You! Rejoice in the Lord always, and again, I say, “Rejoice!”
- The Serenity Prayer‘s Thank You: Thank you, God, for helping me to accept what I cannot change. Even though, nothing has changed much about my circumstance, I thank you for helping me to just cope with where things are at now. Thank you for the faith to keep trust you in my situation.
- The Psalm 23 Thank You: Thank you for allowing me just pray right now. I can’t hardly talk. But, you can hear my “baaah, baaah”, here in the thicket I’m caught in, right? I need to really get some encouragement this weekend and just unwind and somehow, relax from everyday life. Help me find green pastures. I need some cool waters. Shepherd, help me just rest.
- The Everyday Joe’s Thank You: Thank you, Jesus, for a regular week. It feels so good to have a normal week. Nothing much is going on. But, I like it just fine. It’s good to know I can just enjoy everyday life. Like my cup of coffee, watching my kids play, or just being fine with being by myself. Thanks for the smile you put on my heart.
What kind of Friday are you having? And how is your weekend shaping up to look like?
Tell me, which Thank You are you sending up to God today?
Me? Mine’s kinda obvious, because I just launched FaithBarista this week. So, naturally, it’s The Collegiate’s Thank You. But, you knew that, of course, right? Thanks for all the encouragement I’ve received from you, God! And my first two comments. I’m excited to see where this blog will take me and the people I’ll meet on this faith journey. Of course, I also know you’ve got a lot of lessons in faith stored up for me. For that, I ask, Lord, have mercy. Please, not too exciting, ‘k? I can only handle so much faith. Ha! 😉 Thanks, God. Amen.
Thank God. I mean, really. T-h-a-n-k y-o-u, God.
“..In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonions 5:18
Saying thanks doesn’t mean everything is going hunkey dorey. Eventhough it could.
I hope you have a great weekend, no matter what type of “Thank You” you find yourself it!

Sorry to hear about the dissolution of your business, but
it’s also nice to see the birth of your new blog. You
have a unique and creative online voice, and I’m glad you’re
venturing in this area. I’ll be following your new blog!!
Thanks, Joe! It’s good to hear we’ll still be online friends, even though the business has unfolded (sigh of relief). 😉 You’re an encouragement, bro!
I just read your comments in response to Michael Hyatt’s blog about not giving up. I’m a single mother. I gave up writing to work 2-3 jobs to support my sons. Two years ago, in my late 50’s, I could no longer resist the passion God put in my heart to write. I gave up working full time in corporate Christianity. But I didn’t want to be a starving artist, so I care 24/7 for a disabled individual. Best money I’ve ever made. But it gives me the time to write. In the last two years, I’ve attended 2 writers conferences, obtained an agent that is floating a book to publishers that I started 12 years ago, write fulltime and also write for examiner.com. You are SO YOUNG! It’s never too late to pursue the passion God put in your heart. Also, I’d like to interview you for a book I want to write about adult children from single parent homes. God bless you, Scoti
@Scoti: What an encouragement! Your story gives me hope. I would be honored to be interviewed for your book. Thank you ;). God bless you, too!
