Josh Wilson: Savior, Please Keep Saving Me

By Bonnie Gray • August 14, 2009 • 13 Comments

Artist:  Josh Wilson
Album:  Trying To Fit The Ocean In A Cup
Year:  2008
Title:  Savior, Please Keep Saving Me

I love this week’s Worship Smoothie for so many reasons.  The song title, Savior, Please Keep Saving Me, caught my eye as it flashed on my car’s XM LCD display.

As I listened to the music, I found myself praying, as the lyrics connect.

No matter how much time has passed between us, I still need God today, as much as I did when I first believed.

The melody is really addicting.  I can’t get it out of my head.  Josh Wilson‘s voice is oh so melancholy sweet.  Isn’t life sorta like that sometimes?  Josh is able to hit the sweet spot of singing with emotion on a message that’s both personal and shared.

What really made this song for me were the words. So good.

The second stanza especially stood out:

Savior, please help me stand.
I fall so hard, I fade so fast.
Will you begin right where I end?
And be the God of all I am because you’re all I have.

Man, I keep replaying this song, just to hear him sing those lines.  Nice.

Hope you enjoy.  May it give you a Happy-Friday lift.

So, what do you think? Like it?

Savior, Please Keep Saving Me - By Josh Wilson

Savior, please take my hand.
I work so hard, I live so fast.
This life begins, then it ends.
And then I do the best that I can,
but I don't know how long I'll last.

I try to be so tough,
but I'm just not strong enough.
I can't do this alone, God I need you
to hold on to me.
I try to be good enough,
but I'm nothing without your love.
Savior, please keep saving me.

Savior, please help me stand.
I fall so hard, I fade so fast.
Will you begin right where I end?
And be the God of all I am because you're all I have.

Hallelujah!
Everything you are to me
is everything I'll ever need.
and i am learning to believe
cause you're the one who's saving me.

One our student pastor’s went to church with Josh Wilson in youth group growing up. It’s fun to understand humble beginnings. I love this song. If we’re honest it may, more-often-than-not, be the NEEDED cry of our hearts even if we’re too stubborn to admit it. Thanks for sharing it this morning.

Hey MIcah! “the NEEDED cry of our hearts even if we’re too stubborn to admit it ” You’re so right. That’s exactly how this song got me. Straight where I needed it. So cool you got the scoop on the young Josh Wilson. Thank God for humble beginnings.

I have been listening to a voice telling me to surrender and follow. This song has touched my life in so many ways. Yes, I try so hard and seem to fall short and hard. Yes, I will surrender to the Savior who will always keep saving me and picking up where I fell. I can’t do it on my own – don’t even know why I tried.

    Thanks!
