Is Your Heart Spoken For?

By Bonnie Gray • October 9, 2009 • 13 Comments

There are certain number of moments that renovate our lives.  One of which is being spoken for.

Artist: MercyMe
Album: Spoken For
Year: 2002
Title: Spoken For

As we wrap up our series What’s New With You?, I’d like to end on a sentimental note.

Do you remember the times your heart was spoken for?

Was it your first crush who caught your breath with just a thought, placing a nervous butterfly in your tummy?  Maybe it was a pair of love-struck eyes staring back at you?

Many times, when I watch my husband love on our boys, I can’t help, but be overcome with emotion.  Not having grown up with a daddy myself, I’m overwhelmed by how blessed they are to have a loving father, to snuggle with and plant kisses on.

The moment TJ hears the garage door opening, he makes a straight dash for the door and yells, “Daddy!  Daddy!”

Their daddy’s tall frame fills up the family room, as he picks up baby CJ from his toddling crawl and TJ squirms his way into a father’s embrace.

My children know, without a shadow of a doubt, they are spoken for.

You and me.  We aren’t any less blessed.

It doesn’t matter how many birthday candles we blow out, you and I are spoken for.

Our loving, Heavenly Father, waits for us, with a gentle smile, arms relaxed and open.

Ready to love on us.

As we gather up hope for renewal, thinking of things gone by and longings to come, I dedicate today’s Worship Smoothie to you.

I’ve chosen a child’s love song to a daddy, Spoken For, by Grammy nominated  contemporary Christian band MercyMe.

It was the song I felt best expressed my sentiments, as we break for the weekend and step into The Beauty of Whitespace, to find rest and repentance.  Quietness and trust.

I hope it’s lyrics will capture your heart and steal your affections, to direct us to spending them on our Father:

Take this world from me
I don’t need it anymore
I am finally free
My heart is spoken for

Covered by your love divine
Child of the risen Lord
To hear you say “This one’s mine”
My heart is spoken for

Happy Friday, dear friends.  I will be thinking of you in my Saturday morning whitespace.

New Series Begins Next Week:
What’s Love Got To Do With It?
Don’t Miss It!

And may our Heavenly Father love on you, until you are at rest, ready to be renewed.  That’s where I plan to be, too.  Enjoy.

Lyrics to Spoken For - By MercyMe
Take this world from me
I don't need it anymore
I am finally free
My heart is spoken for
Oh and I praise you
Oh and I worship you...
[CHORUS]
Covered by your love divine
Child of the risen Lord
To hear you say "This one's mine"
My heart is spoken for
Now I have a peace
I've never known before
I find myself complete
My heart is spoken for
Oh and I praise you
Oh and I worship you...
[CHORUS]
Covered by your love divine
Child of the risen Lord
To hear you say "This one's mine"
My heart is spoken for
By the power of the cross
You've taken what was lost
And made it fully yours
And I have been redeemed
By you that spoke to me
Now I am spoken for
[CHORUS]
Covered by your love divine
Child of the risen Lord
To hear you say "This one's mine"
My heart is spoken for (2x)
Take this world from me
Don't need it anymore...

Shabbat was great! I had my Whitespace time out under the Sukkot (we still haven’t taken it down yet. I’m hoping to leave it up a while like those people who leave their Holiday lights up till the end of Jan.) hehehe. Glad u liked the pics 🙂

I am so glad that I am spoken for. Thank you for this very moving reminder.

Bonnie, I thought I’d stop back and mention that “Spoken For” was an inspiration to me after I was reminded of the words here. My post today turned out to be on Predestination, and when I asked the Lord what quote I should attach to it, this song came to mind so I used it.

Thanks again for your sharing, sweet Faith Barista.

@Maureen: Man, I wish I was there! I’d crash your whitespace, probably 😉 J/K. Yeah, it’s fun to leave stuff up afterwards. Like a lingering fragrance. So happy to get your update.
@Melinda: This song was very moving.
@Anne: Hey! The worship smoothie lasted into the weekend and onto your blog! Yeah!
