No other words than God’s will do. Our hearts are silent. Our soul is longing. Speak to me, Lord.

Title: Speak To Me
As I stand at the precipice of entering into the holidays, a mood of expectancy pervades the atmosphere.
I know the usual suspects of the season will call for my attention. Like gusts of winter chill, a variety of voices will attempt to work it’s way into my calendar.
Before I know it, my hours may soon be filled with things to do, places to gather, and friends to hug.
Yet, like the last leaves of the season hesitantly clinging to the trees, I want to slow down the remaining days of the year.
I want the love of that first Christmas to permeate all I do, say and think in the time I left.
Not the stress, the drama or the logistics of storybook cheer.
I want to break out of the pretense, quiet myself inside, so that I might find joy flowing from within.
I am needy. I am weary.
I am in need of God’s love.
A Prayer Song
As we step into a new month this week, the song I’ve chosen for today’s Worship Smoothie has been a gift this week: American Worship Leader Tommy Walker’s “Speak To Me”.
It is an alluring prayer song that has rested in my soul, making it’s way to create room for God and His language of love.
When we seek God, only His words will do. Not just any words.
Speak to me.
Only the private words He has just for each of us will satisfy our desires for love.
Let the lyrics become a guiding prayer, as you enter into a first weekend of November.
As you listen, may the jazz brush beat mirror the Spirit’s pulse on your heart.
I am your servant
And I am listening
Speak to me Lord
I need your wisdom
And truth and comfort
Speak to me Lord, speak to me
Through your word
Through your spirit
Speak your words of life
Happy Friday, fellow faith travelers.
I hope you enjoy this beautiful song.
May it open our hearts, widening it to His words, His nearness, His gifts, His help, and His touch.

Lyrics to Speak To Me - By Tommy Walker
I am your servant
And I am listening
Speak to me Lord, speak to me
I need your wisdom
And truth and comfort
Speak to me Lord, speak to me
Speak to me
Speak to me
Through your word
Through your spirit
Speak your words of life
Speak to me
Speak to me
I am listening
I am waiting
Speak to me
I am your servant
And I am listening
Speak to me Lord, speak to me
My heart is silent
My soul is longing
Speak to me Lord, speak to me

It is so easy to get lost in the rush and distractions of this crazy season that is now upon us… thanks for the reminder, Bonnie.
As usual, I’m walking down this path with you!
Bonnie, great song for today! (honestly, this song is great any day, but for some reason today, it seems even more appropriate)
I know it isn’t necessarily a holiday or Christmas song, but the jazz feel gives today’s worship smoothie a candy cane like flavor. lol
Good post!
My 6-yr-old son and I listened to the song together. I’ve really been listening for God’s words this week! Thanks for this lovely post, Bonnie!

A welcome urging . . . .
Your song is all I have left in my spirit at this time. The Holy Spirit has been ministering to me through it for months, but it is at this time that it means the most. I recently lost my husband, and I am waiting on God to speak to me.
Thank you for your dedication to Him.
I’m so touched to receive your note. My heart is heavy for you — a husband is a partner in more ways than one. I just whispered a prayer for God to bring you comfort and lift you up.
I’m happy to know this song is touching you — and may His Holy Spirit just take you through your grief.
Thank you for taking the time to share during such a painful time.
Thank you Bonnie. This morning before I start my busy day my soul has already begun to sing Speak to me Lord, speak to me. What more appropriate song could there be. I am listen I am waiting speak to me.
