Christmas Carries

By Bonnie Gray • December 25, 2009 • 24 Comments

Dear Faith Barista friends,

It is Christmas.  And my heart is gathering.

To learn, laugh, and live — in this inner place where life and faith intersect.

In my journey to follow the Star, it has led me to you.

I don’t believe in coincidence, even here across digital bytes.

Thank you for the gift of your words.  In the exchange of a comment, tweet, email — or silent companionship — we have shared the days together.  How wonderful to find our paths cross this sweet December day.

My wish for you this Merry Christmas is the best of whatever is to come, to you and those you love. With warmest of blessings, I share a poem with you this Christmas night.

Christmas Carries

Like the Rose of Sharon, overwintering in the snow

You bury December deep, with a promise of spring, beyond the unknown

When the heart softens to exhale

When one wakes up to dream again

Christmas carries —

Light, bring me closer

Hope, lift me to remember

You came.  You were here.

Breathing as I am,

Heart beating, thoughts filling, body tiring.

Christmas carries —

Bringing peace that was so quiet, then

I come now, arms reaching, now

You come.  You are here.

Carry me to the joy of good to come

Past the trials, beyond the clouds, the certainty I seek.

It is You.

The hope, the love, the joy, and the peace.

It is You.

Christmas carries.  Christmas carries.

“Mary said, “My soul exalts the Lord.  And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior…

For He has had regard for the humble state of His servant…

For the Mighty One has done great things for me. ”  Luke 1:46-49

CHRISTmas carries through the rest of the year. Carries the cross through the valley of the shadow of death, carries the prayers through Gethsemane, through the joys of birth, the pain of death, Christmas carries us home.

God Bless you forever Faith B.

Merry Christmas, Bonnie — and thanks for your posts here. You may think of it as a blog but it’s more like a ministry of enouragement.
