“We are going to all get to that place where life hurts and our hearts are broken.
We are all going to find ourselves in the middle of a Plan B…
Being a Christian doesn’t change this reality at all.”
One of cool toys I remember from my childhood is the magic slate.
Did you have one of those?
It was one of the few things my mom would let me buy sometimes at the pharmacy, if I was a good girl. I’d walk up and down the toy aisle, browsing at the little toys hung up on metal hooks in plastic packages, while mom did her shopping.
The magic slate was a fave and easily got the stamp of approval from mom. I’d ride home in the car with a smile, with my prize snuggled safe in a small crinkly plastic bag.
After I unwrapped my slate, I went to town, drawing anything I wanted. When I was done with my picture, I’d lift up the plastic coat.
Magic. The picture I drew disappeared. Erased.
I could start doodling all over again.
It wasn’t too long– usually by the end of the day– the magic slate stopped working.
That plastic writing stylus apparently proved too much for the sticky black drawing pad. I’d etch some pretty deep grooves, even if I tried to press ever so lightly.
I could no longer create what I wanted, without the bumpy lines from the previous pictures messing things up.
No more magic.
I guess that’s how life feels like when I’ve hit the Plan Bs in my life…

Plan B – how many times I have found myself saying ok now on to plan B. I have gone through a divorce, remarried, and gone through the death of a step-son who was only 35. He left behind a 5 year old son and wife. His wife has been amazing and shown so much strength. I think she has come to Plan B in her life and I would love to share a copy of the the book with her. I plan to buy one for me and one for her, but I thought what the heck…Plan B maybe I could win one!
As a mother of two children 25 and 23 I have seen so many Plan B’s in my life. My divorce lead me to plan B when my son went to live with his dad, which was not in my plan at all. It was a shock and something my heart was not ready for. I cried more weeks over it and then I said ok Plan B…I have to accept this the only way around it was to prove his dad unfit…I could not do that to my children…the issue wasn’t if he was unfit to be a parent, we were unfit to be married any longer. So I had to change my way of thinking and support my sons decision and make this work for all of us.
I look forward to reading this book either way.
I can’t wait to read the interview!

What a great reminder that God loves us and has plans to prosper us and not always the Plan As that we so feel we need, want, deserve.
My plan B happened about two years ago. In March of 2008, my dad contracted a fast acting cancer that took him on April 21, 2008. In the summer of 2007, my mom contracted Lou Gehrigs ALS in her throat and passed into glory on November 3, 2008. God rocked my plan A and on top of that my older and only brother is bitter and we have no relationship except his threatening emails. My only plan is to run to my Lord’s arms, and know that He is all I need. I have clung to His soverity so much and have learned that not much is solid anymore, except that Christ went to the cross on His own accord for my sins, and that I need to forgive quickly in order to not harbor bitterness. These three nuggets have really encouraged me – thank you for posting this.
“Faith is saying I choose to believe in you, God, more than this or that tragedy.”
“The choice of faith is the fundamental choice that changes everything in our Plan Bs because it changes who we become.”
“The wall is the place where I must relinquish what I cling to for identity… Please understand, please prepare yourself because if you haven’t come up against the wall yet, you will eventually.”
May God bless your ministry.
i won another contest to win this book plan B about a month ago… pete wilson even signed it.
BUT it got lost in the mail and took a plan B of it’s own. i hope the person who got it is blessed by reading this book.
the irony… plan B of the book plan B! ha!
I recently had an injury which resulted in having to give up my job and became home bound. Adjusting has been a big issue and coming to the point of acceptance that God is in control and submitting to His will for His Plan B has been a big struggle. Thank you for reminding me that God’s ways are always perfect and if we commit our ways to Him He will make our paths straight.
plan B, Bring it On Lord…. I am so trying to surrender my life and do life Gods way… Laying everything at his feet and just basking in his presence…. Most days I do ok, until the sneaky enemy finds his way in….blessings kathy
