It’s hard to imagine. Two years ago, I couldn’t hardly breathe. Soul-weary. Exhausted. Anxious.
It’s even harder to imagine. It just last year I began to pen the first words to a book that changed my life.
Rest.
I knew about rest. But, the book God wanted me to write wouldn’t be — from my head.
Like all things beautiful and true — like the birth of a child, the taste of your first kiss, like listening to rain falling so quietly on your rooftop, you felt you were seven again looking at clouds move across the sky — there are some things we have to live through, in order to taste its sweetness. Even if it is mixed with tears.
The book God wanted me to write was a journey He wanted me to experience — in my heart.
I wrote Finding Spiritual Whitespace to offer you the gift of rest I journeyed to receive.
Space.
For beauty. For joy. To dream dreams.
Intimacy with God. And others.
To just be you.
As I wrote my most heart-breaking struggles along the journey to find rest, I never would’ve guessed my book would garner Publisher’s Weekly starred review praise. I never guessed I’d lead a Spiritual Whitespace Retreat for Army Military Officers, write about whitespace for Relevant Magazine, nor did I believe I’d be invited to Canada to be interviewed on a TV show that will air internationally (will share soon).
Rest is a gift God longs for all us to receive.
And December is the month we celebrate this gift of rest. Jesus.
Give Rest. This Christmas.
Rest is an intimate relationship with Jesus who gently whispers your name. Beloved.
Will you give the gift of rest to a friend — or maybe to yourself — this Christmas?
Finding Spiritual Whitespace: Awakening Your Soul to Rest is the book I confided in you — so you can unwrap the gift of rest too.
Give the gift of rest to a friend this Christmas. As thank you, I have some gifts for you.

Dear Bonnie,
I have been a follower of faith barista for about two years and I purchased your book about six-eight months ago. I would love to join your book club in January. Am I eligible since I’m not taking advantage of your current offer?
Blessings this Christmas season.
Paula
Yes, Paula! The Book Club is free to everyone. Just like my Facebook page — that’s where I’ll be running the Online Book Club. Thank you for ordering a copy when it was just released, friend! I hope it’s been an encouragement to your heart.
Thank you soo much for saying all the things that I can’t say to myself, it has been so hard to bury the guilt I cause my ownself because I never feel like I have done enough. I always fall short in my eyes, as a mother, or friend. The sad thing is it doesn’t count that you know that others don’t feel this way about you. Self-love is a definite must for me, and the even harder, it’s okay not tobe okay all the time, I work on that daily. Continue to pray for me as I will you, and I am so grateful you found your healing place!♥
It will be great to do the book club together, Wendy… I hope you can get a copy of the book, as I can share encouragement with you about the journey — it has journaling prompts. I think you’ll like it!
Sweet Bonnie I have read and reread the Thanksgiving post because it lifted my heart in such a real way. I included it in my blog and gave you credit. I have also ordered the book as a Christmas’ new life present for myself.
Thank you
Dear Lisa Marie, thank you for sharing this post with your blog readers!… and for ordering a copy of the book. I look forward to meeting with you between the pages.
Hello Bonnie,
I hope you don’t find this odd, a comment coming from a man. I came across your writing one day while surfing the internet, really liked what you had to say about soulful rest. I related to things you said about the not being able to breathe, anxious, tired and just plain worn out. I was in that same place not more than two years ago, but with a vitally renewed commitment to being closer to Jesus, being in His Word as much as I possibly can, I like you now feel like I can breathe, at peace. Your writings are very uplifting, so beneficial I recently sent your book to my mom and niece in California, I know they will enjoy it immensely. So keep up the inspired work, blessings on you and family for the holidays.
