A Prayer For You Today
Dear Jesus,
I lift up my friend reading here with me to you.
I pray that you will place your hand on her heart
as she steps into this day.
So she can feel your healing touch.
So she can hear your voice
in the soft light of the morning
in the trees that stand still in early light
for silence is where your whisper is waiting for her.
Bring to mind friends who care for her,
stories of how you’ve been faithful in the past,
and how you long to speak to her even now.
new and fresh.
You whisper – you are my beloved.
Before the noise of the day enters,
you are with her first and always.
The very thought of her
captures your heart today.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
A Prayer For Our Friends in Christ – in Texas and Florida
After a week of seeing the storm’s wake and floods, we may be reminded of other storms we or those we love are facing. As we collectively feel our fellow Texans’ pain and our fellow Floridian neighbor’s days ahead, let’s pause. And offer a prayer today for everyone.
What has comforted you in your time of need?
Lift up a breath prayer to intercede for those who cannot pray right now.
Dear Jesus,
our hearts go out to all those who have lost people, possessions, and property in the floods.
For we too have been hit by storms in our lives.
We have heard your gentle voice carrying us.
We ask you now, to be that Gentle Voice to comfort and carry those who are devastated.
Wrap your loving arms around them,
through donations to feed, cloth and shelter them.
Move us to give to our fellow friends in Texas.
Grant your peace to our friends in Florida who are on alert and watchful.
Reassure them of your presence.
Give them insight on how best to prepare, respond and take action for Hurricane Irma.
Touch, strengthen, and comfort them,
in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey,
as they begin to survey and grieve everything that’s been lost.
Give them courage by inspiring us to give, serve, love and listen.
And move us to be your voice of kindness and love
in this time of need – to everyone around us.
Because everyone is going through something.
Let us lift up each other
and be your light wherever we go.
In Jesus name, Amen.

Bonnie, As always you had a wonderful piece about depression. So thankful you are better. I am pretty much stressed big time because my husband of 53 years joined a false cult & now worships on Sat & says everybody who worships on Sun is sinning & will not get in Heaven. He is very judgmental of all other religions but “his”..it is awful! Any suggestions?
